    I was at the LaGrou facility in Des Plaines, IL on Wednesday. I heard it was tight, but man, she was TIGHT. The guys driving shorter wheelbase Volvo trucks, even just 18” shorter than my Western Star 5700xe, had a much easier time than me. LaGrou should really make a tad more room. It wouldn’t be too difficult for them. Their employees are very nice though.

    That truck is a piece of garbage. You can keep the auto braking and lane warning bullshit. Just hire a robot to drive the truck if that's what you want. No real truck driver would drive that crap, but no doubt Schneider will find enough steering wheel holders to pretend they're truck drivers.

      If a person drives a truck safely and gets paid for it they are a truck driver. You want to feel special because your whole life you've never felt much like anything so you resort to putting others down to make yourself feel better

    Okee i don't get it, the us is such a big country why use so little room. Here in the netherlands we have more room. I used to drive with waterpipes en stuf like that, we had to go to living streets and those are small here. Often went to amsterdam. But with backing up, you really need to work. Steering left en right en pushing that trailer to a gap. If you do it so slow as here, you indeed need to pull up, but when he turned right and than straight,right again so forward, the angel is a lot less en because you do that you automaticly get more room where the other truck is. Everyone does it its own way, experiment on that what will work best for you. PS. Sorry for the typos am a dutchtrucker not a whriter 😂. Have a nice day ya'll👋

    Don't know why they teach this 90 degree backing. I & others, like 20 plus trucking, DON'T do it. Your hole is vertical. You should set up as close vertical to your hole as possible. So you can see down both sides of the trailer. If you have plenty of space in front of you, then just pull straight up & back in. When there's limited space, that's when you angle it 45 degree or how ever many degree close to vertical as possible. Once you become good, all that matters is where your tandem is in relation to the hole. The front of your tractor doesn't matter.

    On the topic of pay, you know it's bad when a number isn't given, and they try to make it sound nice with all the other incentives to boost your pay, but they won't give a number on that either. It takes a comment section to give you more info on pay than this whole video.

    I am missing something here. at 2:47 the couplings are coupled then you're doing a trailer break test. then at 3:15 you are connecting the couplings. Is this edited out of order?

    • @joshhumanhaven
      @joshhumanhaven 12 днів тому

      This is not to test the trailer breakers, it is to make sure the locking jaws are securely around the kingpin. It is confusing because you can see the air lines are hooked up, which they should not be at this point...so yes it is bad editing but what he says is right.

    This is the wrong set up if your tandems are all the way back, if your tandems are all the way back, you need to pull forward a little bit past that trailer then go to the 12 o’clock. If your tandems are forward, then that’s when you go to the halfway point of the Of the trailer.

    Its low pay. So low that you starve your family, or you starve yourself. If its 25cpm that equals about 25 bucks per 100 miles which equals about 12 to 13 dollars per hour. On top of that road expenses are really high. you can easily spend 40$ to 50$ per day then minus your taxes your family *wife) is going to get an average check of abot 300$ to 400$ per week and will quickly be dissatisfied with you always being gone and not even getting decent pay. I drove for 20 years before I got out of it and my best year was 56K and I stayed out 6 to 8 weeks at a time. Ended up divorced. Dont recommend OTR trucking. Now all that being said you can make great money driving local for grocery chain or end dump or etc.. But OTR is now and alwats been total BS. Ask drivers how many jobs they have had. The average guy with 10 years experience has usually had about 6 to 10 jobs in that time jumping from job to job trying to find that great OTR job.
